Wal-Mart also reached an agreement to acquire a minority stake in Yihaodian, an e-commerce company in China, during the year. The company acquired a 51% stake in Massmart Holdings, a South Africa based company, in mid-2011. Massmart Holdings operates nine wholesale and retail chains, and one buying group, each focused on high-volume, low-margin, low-cost distribution of primarily branded consumer goods. Further in the year, Walmart Canada entered into an agreement with Target Canada to assume the leasehold interests in up to 39 sites operated by Zellers. The company also opened its first small format store, Walmart Express, in Gentry, Arkansas during the year. Further in 2011, Wal-Mart announced plans to install solar panels on about 60 stores in California, expanding the company's solar portfolio to more than 75% of its stores in the state. Later in 2011, Wal-Mart announced plans to launch a dedicated page on walmart.com for women worldwide.This web page will feature an assortment of products created by women in nearly 24 countries, including women who work in cooperatives and own small businesses. During the same time, ASDA, Wal-Mart's UK subsidiary, acquired Netto Foodstores from Dansk Supermarked. Netto operates 194 stores with an average size of 8,000 square feet. Netto is the market leader in Denmark and among the fastest growing discounters in Germany, Poland and Sweden.This acquisition enhanced Wal-Mart's presence in Europe. In the beginning of 2012, ASDA signed a franchise agreement with Azadea Group to open its George branded stores in the Middle East. During the same time, it also signed a franchise agreement with SandpiperCI to open its George branded stores in Jersey and Guernsey. Subsequently, Wal-Mart launched 'Great For You' image that would appear on select Walmart Great Value and Marketside items, as well as on fresh and packaged fruits and vegetables at Walmart US stores nationwide. Further in the year, Walmart de Mexico y Centroamerica announced plans to invest MXN19.7 billion (about $1.6 billion) towards expansion and modernization. Further in 2012, Wal-Mart, in partnership with local non-governmental organizations, launched its Women in Factories program, a five-year initiative that will empower 60,000 women working in factories that supply products to Wal-Mart and other retailers in India, Bangladesh, China and Central America. This program will train women on skills related to communication, hygiene, reproductive health, occupational health and safety, identifying personal strengths and gender sensitivity. Around the same time, ASDA acquired the sourcing division of its long term supply partner GAAT.
