Step 1: Provide a positive working environment Creating job satisfaction begins by first providing a positive work environment. The manager must find what motivates her; she has to find what “turns her on.” A motivating working environment requires going over and beyond the call of duty and providing for the needs of the worker. Managers can implement some employee services, for example, as in the school there is a beauty for the Beauty students to practice; they should take a once a month to treat their employees and provide them with free beauty services. Taking care of the employee’s needs keep them motivated, on the job and loyal to the company. Step 2: Reward and recognition Personal recognition is a powerful tool in building morale and motivation. A pat on the back, a personal note from a peer or a supervisor does wonders. Small, informal celebrations are many times more effective than a once a quarter or once a year formal event. I believe that every month all employees can come together and talk about the good and bad things at work. This can also be a good opportunity to celebrate the employees’ birthdays of the month and to recognize the most prominent worker of the month. This can challenge all employees to perform better every month. Step 3: Involve and engage the workforce My coworker shows up every day for work, but is she engaged and productive? People are more committed and engaged when there is a process for them to contribute their ideas and employee suggestions. This gives them a sense of ownership and pride in their work.

Step 4: Develop worker’s skills and potential Training and education can be a motivation for my coworker. Customer service people like her should be evaluated and trained at least once a year because learning is a continuous process.
