Mr. O’s needs. To meet his needs, you want to increase 1512mL/24hr . This will increase the protein and hit Mr. O’s needs. (1512mL x .0638g protein/mL= 96.46g protein) You then will take 1512mL/24hr= 63mL/hr x 24hr . You then take 1512 x .760 = 1149.12mL of H2O . Next you take 2200-1149= 1051mL H2O flushes . From looking at the calculations, I would recommend starting at 31mL/hr and increase to the goal rate of 63mL/hr in increments of 10-20mL/hr every 6-8 hours as tolerated. Will this formula meet Mr. O’s water needs? If not, what are your recommendations for additional “free water” fluid intake? (1 point) This formula will not meet Mr. O’s fluid needs. In order for him to reach his needs, I would recommend that he receives 1051mL of additional flushes to meet his daily needs. Write a nutritional recommendation (how to start TF, goal rate, flushes) for this patient. (3 points). I would recommend starting tube feeding Mr. O Jevity 1.5 31mL of the formula as half of the goal and increase as tolerated to the goal rate of 63mL/hr x 24hr. There is an extra 1051 mL/day of H2O so that will be used as flushes to meet the estimated needs of 2200 kcal/day, 96g of protein, and 2200mL of H2O/day. 5. (6 points) Mr. O is now on a water restriction of 1000 ml/day. You will need to meet, the best you can, his kcal, protein and fluid (water) needs within the restriction. Of the following choices, state which formula you would now use and why (this may or may not be the same formula you used for question #5 Osmolite, Isocal HN, Nutren 1.5, Jevity 1.5, Impact with Fiber, Pulmocare.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
