Varun KapoorAnswered Jun 11, 2016Did British really cause the partition of India?Or whether it was responsible for unification of India into two units ( three unitsif you consider Burma as a part of India & separated in 1937).A lot of Quorans work in corporates and under tight work pressures. We all face alot of pressures and some failures and escalations. What's the easiest unprofessional excuse? Blame others! If you blame a currentemployee, he/ she will hit you back. If you blame the employees who are nolonger in the organisation- no worries!Sadly, our politicians didn't behave professionally that time! And similarexcuses are crippling these nations even now!History told us that Hitler was pure evil, Gandhi won us independence ( forIndians), Jinnah freed us from Hindu oppression (for Pakistanis), Britishersdivided India, Lincoln made the US united etc. These are the versions of historywhich the people wanted us to know and not the full truth!I have stayed in Germany for long, and I see them admitting the mistakes of1940s. This is even thought in schools. Hitler is no hero. Result- you see animproved & prosperous nation now. They even went a step ahead- got unitedinto one nation. All the politicians taking advantage of insecurity of the people along with deeprouted discriminations in the society resulted in the partition of India. India andPakistan did not improve since they simply shifted the blame, and as a result ofit, similar things happen now as well.Coming to Britishers, divide and rule was followed by East India Company to getcontrol of India. For a corporate to rule the entire country, there was no otheroption but to take benefit of certain deep routed hatreds easily available to grab, besides using money power. Shamefully, we were fragile enough to break andallow a corporate to rule the nation.Once under British empire, they acted in the same manner as what otherpoliticians do currently. Same caste/ religion/ community based politics to gainacceptance. You can’t blame them, since they were as good or is bad as thecurrent lot of politicians.Only aspects to blame Britishers- draining India financially or more chaosduring partition- but that's not the question here.
