Overview of VietinBank Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade or VietinBank is one of four big state-owned banks in Vietnam (Janssen, 2017). Founded in 1988, the State Bank of Vietnam is the biggest shareholder of VietinBank with 64.5% followed by Japan s Bank of Tokyo- Mitsubishi with 19.7% and IFC with 8% (Koh& Nguyen, 2018). In the end of 2017, total assets of VietinBank accounted for 1,095,061 billion VND and the percentage of ROA was 0.9%. VietinBank s head office is located in Hanoi. There are 155 local branches across the country, two Representative Offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang; one Trade Finance Centre, five Cash Management Centers, three Non-business Units (Card Centre, Information Technology Centre, Human Resource Development and Training School), and 958 transaction offices, two foreign branches in Germany, oneRepresentative in Myanmar, and one subsidiary bank in Laos (VietinBank, 2017). The study will consider the Human Resource requirements, consisting the Purpose of Human Resource Management (HRM), Critical Issues Related to Workforce Planning, and an Assessment of the HRM Process to open a branch in My Dinh. 1.1.
