Official Towson University PoliciesAcademic Integrity Policy: The acquisition, sharing, communication, and evaluation of knowledge areat the core of a university’s mission. To realize this part of its mission, a university must be a communityof trust. Because integrity is essential to the purpose of an academic community, the responsibility formaintaining standards of integrity is shared by all members of the community.The Academic Integrity Policy in part states that no student shall submit the words, ideas, images anddata of another person as his or her own in any academic writing, essay, thesis, research project orassignment in a course or any program of study.It is the responsibility of each student to avoidplagiarism while meeting the requirements of assignments.Cheating and/or plagiarism on any work forthis course will not be tolerated and will result in severe penalties including a zero on the assignment,and/or failure of the course.Course Repeat Policy:Students may not make a third attempt of a course except with prior approval.Students must complete a Petition for a Third Attempt Form and submit it to the Registrar’s CustomerService Center, Enrollment Services, room 223, before registering for the course. Grades of W areUpdated and approved 2018
8administrative and are not considered as part of the repeated course procedure. Courses that have beenaccepted previously for transfer credit by TU or have been attempted or completed for units at TU maynot be repeated at other institutions.Courses in which low or failing grades were earned at Towson MUST be repeated at Towson in order forthe record to be adjusted and the GPA to be recalculated. When courses are repeated, students will receivecredit for the course only once. Only the higher of the two grades will be calculated in the GPA. Thelower grade will remain on the record with the letter R preceding (e.g., RF, RX, RD, etc.) to indicate thecourse has been repeated.Official Withdraw Policy:Students who fail to appear for the first two class sessions, or the first sessionof evening classes, may forfeit their space in class.Instructors have the right to release these spaces toother students wishing to add the class to their schedules.Students who lose their spaces must officiallywithdraw from the course through the registrar’s office to avoid earning an FX grade for non-attendance.Accessibility & Disability Services:This course is in compliance with Towson University policies forstudents with disabilities.Students with disabilities are encouraged to register with Accessibility &Disability Services (ADS) at 7720 York Road, Suite 232 [(Phone 410-704-2638) (Voice or TDD)].
