because there is a relative and absolute Vo2 max rating. Absolute Vo2 max does not calculates in your body weight and would be measured as l/min. Relative vo2 max calculates a person’s weight into the equation and is more specific to the subject being tested. Factors that can alter your Vo2 max values are your age, genetics, body mass, and the temperature in which the test is being conducted in. The variable that controls the rate of ventilation at rest is the individual’s current fitness level. A fit person with breath slower and take fewer breaths than an unfit person. As we approach high-intensity exercise you breathe more to increase oxygen consumption to supply the working muscles with the oxygen it needs to sustain the current activity (Powers & Howley, 2007). Conclusion Based on the results from my finding there were a lot of positive correlations between time and the other variables. When time increased HR, Tidal volume, Respiratory rate, Vo2, and Ve (minute ventilation) all increased. Time and intensity were the deciding factor that controlled the variable that we were looking at. Also as I previously stated I thought the male subject would have a higher Vo2 max. According to the data presented my hypothesis was supported. The male had a Vo2 max of 49.9 ml/kg/min and the female had a Vo2 max of 35 ml/kg/min. References Powers, S., & Howley, E. (2007). The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
