27. Stonewall Riot: The Stonewall Riot was a riot in 1969 among gays and lesbians. They protested against police raids in a gay bar in New York called Stonewall Inn. Before the raids and protest, police already actively began to raid homsexuals. In America, becoming a gay or lesbian is morally wrong, so cops started to arrest gays. In the bar, people fought back, which became the oppression for gays, which began the gay pride movement. 28. Black Panthers: The Black Panthers was formed in 1966 and was a black militant party fighting for racial equality. Their means was to confront violence directly and the only means of achieving black liberation. The Black Panthers called on members to arm themselves for the liberation struggle. The party members eventually became involved in a series of violent confrontations with the police and in a series of trials. In contrary to other civil rights groups, the Black Panthers used violence to defend themselves. With
