Initially when a new patient arrives then we try to gather all his information like his name, contact address, contact number, in case of emergency, insurance, and other details. Restriction to user accesses the screen locations, where data is entered. A user should be able to place the insertion point only in places where data is entered. Allow users to enter the data in text box. Typically, white boxes show the location and length of each field. An end keystroke required for all field. Pressing the enter key or the tab key should signify the end of a field entry. Users are not required to type zeros before starting a number, may be in integer or decimal format like 089 or 89.00. Provide a way to leave the data entry screen at any time without entering the current record. Users must also have an option to enter valid entry of data by displaying a message such as, Add this record? (Y/N). A positive response (Y) adds the record, else it truncates the record. Users can add or change or delete or view records and able to modify records. For example: if a user enters date in name section, then it is shown that the data is invalid. Data validation checks are given below: 1. Existence check: An existence check is used for those data items which are mandatory. For example, if a student has a roll number and should allow the student only when he provides roll number else the record will not be saved. 2. Data check: A data check is s validation that ensures that the data which is to be entered follows a proper format. For example, data entered in Social Security number might contain both numeric and alphabetical fields. Hence, the user is required to enter the data both in alphabets as well as numbers, failing to enter any one of them will lead mislead of data and then data type check validation is performed.
