and office-level meetings, too.” • “As a lateral from another BigLaw firm, I could not be happier with the partnership. First, they are all excellent lawyers that want to mentor and teach. Second, they have been advocates for my development in terms of the types of assignments I work on and making sure that I am a face to the client. Third, they treat me like a teammate. Even first years are invited to our practice group meetings during which we talk about growth areas and ways that everyone can get involved.” • “I have been impressed with how often management follows up on items that are brought to their attention. Associate comments have led to new review/feedback policies for both associates and partners, including an upward review process. Management always explains the impetus behind policy changes, and associates are encouraged to speak out and make suggestions for how to improve the firm.” • “Most of the partners I have come into contact with make it a point to interact with associates, even if they do not closely work together. From my experience, it is clear that partners are not only committed to their work and the clients, but also to acting as mentors and advisers to the counsel and associates whom they supervise.” Hours • “I think that the hours are reasonable and consistent with what you would find at other large law firms. 261 Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms, 2018 Edition O’MELVENY & MYERS LLP as long as you get your work done, you aren’t necessarily expected to be in the office. This makes worlds of difference for many associates and counsel, and I know that many take advantage of the flexible policy.” • “As a matter of the prevailing culture, face-time is not at all important. There are select partners who still care about face-time, but overall the culture is very conducive to working remotely, being flexible about our hours, and most ‘higher-ups’ (at least the ones I work with) take pride in that culture and encourage associates to be comfortable taking advantage of the firm’s flexible work remotely policy.” • “My work load is reasonable and the work coordinators regularly ensure that I do not have too much on my plate. If I wanted more work, it’s available, which is nice to know. Face-time is required during working hours, but everyone goes home to their families at the end of the day and finishes work from home, if necessary. I enjoy the flexibility.” • “Given the nature of the job, hours vary depending on week. I feel like I have the perfect amount of work to stay busy and engaged, but not so much that I feel overworked and overwhelmed. People generally come into the office during working hours (like 9am to 6pm in LA, 10:00am to 6:30pm in NYC), and work from home nights and weekends. The nice thing about our work coordination system is that you can ask people for work, or you can go through the work coordinators.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
