PHARMACIST INTERVIEW 9 can improve in certain areas. Being a hospital, there is a big turn-around with staff. New nurses are coming on board all the time. It’s difficult having to continuously educate everyone. We can also have a hard time with some nurses who chronically give medications late, or constantly miss medications. For example, we will get a call from a day shift nurse who came on duty to find an antibiotic due overnight wasn’t given. That makes the process harder, because then the schedule must be re-timed, and the nurses have to get back on track with the timing. 6. How has informatics helped or hindered patient education and awareness?
PHARMACIST INTERVIEW 10 started on a new diet, started on a new medication, given new equipment to use. If nurses are unaware of a drug they are giving, rather than flip through a drug book, they can look it up easily and find all the information that they need to know prior to giving it. Drug books are often updating yearly and can be very expensive, so this is an extra perk for the nurses. Summary SUMMARY – (3-4 paragraphs) Elaborate as to what you learned about the specific type technology utilized by the pharmacist, explain its uses and functions, pros and cons, etc.
