Impulsiveness: the tendency to act w/o giving much thought to the consequences Negative emotionality: the tendency to experience many situations as aversive and to react to  them with irritation and anger Sensation seeking: the active desire for novel, varied, and risky sensations.  Empathy: the emotional and cognitive ability to understand the feelings and distress of others  as if they were your own. Altruism: the action component of empathy Conscientiousness: A primary trait composed of sev secondary traits Agreeableness: the tendency to be friendly considerate courteous helpful.

Conscience and Arousal  One of the basic ideas of psychosocial criminology is that diff lvs of physiological arousal  correlate with diff personality and behavioral patterns. Conscience A complex mix of emotional and cognitive mechanisms that we acquire by  internalizing the moral rules of our social group The two components to conscience: the rational and the emotional.  Classical conditioning forms a subconscious association btw two paired stimuli Ind with a readily aroused ANS are easily socialized Ind with a relatively unresponsive ANS are difficult to socialize
