the album. The songs are mellow gothic songs. All the songs sound like a soundtrack made for a scary or creepy movie, yet the songs are still enjoyable. The songs consist of very little lyrics and are mostly instrumental. After reading the lyrics I realized that the meanings behind the songs are straight forward, so my partner and I decided to do some background research on the band. We discovered that Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields (co-founder and singer of the band) first bonded over a discussion of their love for the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland. This conversation led to them both discovering their mutual fascination for haunted things such as ghosts and monsters. As a child, Zach had to be put in therapy because of his obsession with ghosts. On the other hand, Ryan Gosling’s family moved out of their house because they believed that their house was haunted. The two originally decided to write a play about a ghost love story. Both the ghost obsessed men began learning how to play different instruments so that they could create a

Khawaja soundtrack for the play. Soon, however, they realized how much the play would cost. They decided to set the play aside but kept the band and kept pursuing their gothic style music. After learning how the band started, many different ideas for the artwork on our album started forming in our heads. We decided to keep the overall background black because of the gothic music style.
