You will be allowed to drop one (lowest) quiz score, but note that there are NO make up quizzes . If you are LATE to lab, or if you MISS a lab for any reason, that quiz will count as your drop. Missing multiple quizzes will result in zeros. Quizzes are a significant part of your grade and should be taken seriously. Don’t be late for them!! PER-EXPERIMENT (“REPORT”) GRADE: You will be assigned a grade out of 100 points for each experiment based on the following: a) your pre-lab write up (which will be checked by your TA while you take the quiz), b) your lab report and post-lab answers, and c) your laboratory technique. Your TA will evaluate your lab technique based on your preparation, efficiency, safety, and cleanliness during lab experiments. Note that NO lab technique points will be

awarded for the experiment if you leave the lab cluttered with papers, reagents, spills, or lab equipment that has not been put away OR if you violate safety rules by improperly disposing of chemicals or broken glassware. IF YOU FAIL to show up for lab appropriately dressed (i.e. closed-toe shoes, safety glasses, etc.) or you do not wear your safety glasses at ALL TIMES, you will be dismissed from the lab and will receive NO CREDIT for that day’s lab. If you have completed and handed in ALL lab reports ON TIME, completed check out as scheduled, and had no unexcused absences your lowest lab report grade will be dropped. Note that you must have turned in ALL lab reports to drop your lowest grade, so if you miss a lab meeting or fail to turn in a complete lab report, it will count as a zero toward your grade. Any unexcused absence or late report will negate your ability to drop a lab report grade. EXAMINATION: A comprehensive exam will be given as listed at the bottom of the schedule of experiments. Your TA will hold a question/answer session on the day of check out. There is NO make-up for the exam. Bring your student ID with you to the exam. Only non- programmable calculators may be used during the exam—no cell phones or graphing calculators may be used!! Final Grades will be based on the following scheme: Per-experiment grade: 55% Grading Scale Quizzes: 20% 90-100 A, 79-89 B, 65-78 C Examination: 25% 50-64 D, below 50 F Total: 100% (+,– grades will be assigned within these ranges) Please understand that a large portion of your grade relies on your preparedness. It is easy to earn a very good grade in this lab if you arrive prepared. Conversely, if you arrive at lab unprepared, you will lose points on your pre-lab write up, not do well on the quiz, and lose subjective points. Incompletes and Withdrawals : See information posted in the Course Documents tab of the CHM 205 MASTER Blackboard course website. Course Attendance: By signing up for a laboratory section, you are making a commitment to attend all meetings for that section. Due to the fast pace of labs and the fact that most sections are running at maximum capacity, THERE IS VERY LIMITED POSSIBILITY OF MAKING UP MISSED LABS!!! The materials needed to complete a specific lab assignment are changed on a

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
