To find the percent error, I had to use the average of potential energy and kinetic energy and total energy. % Error = KE ETOT ETOT x 100 % Error = PEg ETOT ETOT x 100 .280 m .258 .258 x 100 = 8.52 .236 m .258 .258 x 100 =− 8.40 Conclusion: My hypothesis was correct because as altitude or height decreased, potential energy was lost and kinetic energy was gained. Kinetic energy was more than potential energy just by some difference when the height was decreasing. Even though, the difference was not that much, but kinetic energy was still higher than potential energy. The percent error for kinetic energy was 8.25% and potential energy was -8.40%. One of the sources of error in the lab could have been if the cart was not moved from the same height for each trail. Another source of error could have occurred because my team took the height measurement of Pasco senor only one time and used that to subtract for all the trails. This could have given me different numbers for the height for each trail than actual.
