So the government was facing a crisis because many peasants left their village to get paid more, thus jeopardizing the Feudal System. So the government passed the “Statute of Labourers” stating that peasants were not allowed to get paid any more than what it used to be before the Black Death. This had upset the peasants and sparked the Peasants Revolt. (Trueman) So even though the bubonic plague was its own problem, it also sparked many other crises such as the Peasant Revolt. In fact, if the plague ceased to exist, then the Peasant Revolt

Fluellen 4 would have never happened. Nevertheless, by itself, the bubonic plague was a nasty disease that shook the entire continent of Eurasia. In fact, 60 to 80 perfect that were infected died. Many people even turned to weird practices hoping that they can find a cure. Believing that a strong scent could drive the plague away, “some people would bathe daily in urine and even drank urine; others smeared human excrement on their clothing.” (McGovern) Some even kept goats in their house because of the stench that the goat’s urine produced. Others even hang over lanterns and inhaled the smoke that it gave off. Even at this point, people thought that wearing pointed shoes represented the horns of the devil. The people avoid anything that resembled the devil in any way, shape, or from. They were even seen wearing “garlands, wearing nosegays, and even cloth masks with large noses stuffed with flowers, which were believed to act as a filter against miasma.” (McGovern) But it wasn’t until 1894 that a treatment was developed to take the plague head on. Alexandre Yersin sought to develop this treatment and was the first one to suggest that the bacterium can from fleas and ticks. It was also Yersin that determined that the bacteria that causes the Black Death can be killed by exposing it to “sunlight, high temperatures, drying it out, ordinary disinfectants, and preparations containing chlorine.” (Eckenrode) So thanks to advance technology, Yersin was able to extract the bacterium and kill it, thus developing the treatment. But will this treatment help us now? There have been recent reports of the plague returning in Madagascar a few months ago. In fact, “Madagascar have reached crisis point due 195 people had already died and more than 2,200 people are still infected” (Kentish). And because of this crisis point, many countries such as Malawi was point on plague alert. What makes it even worst is that experts believe “that the bacteria could get strong enough to resist the antibiotics due to the doctors over-medicating the people who had the plague” (Kentish).
