She also advocated that oppression is much more complex than just economic status, it includes race, sex, and gender. Women were believed to have equal opportunities as men in society. In the film the two girls were walking down the street eating stolen corn, a group of men biked passed them without noticing them. The women were extremely confused as to why they were being ignored. The men were on their way to work, because that’s what people in society were supposed to do. The women eventually realized that they do not exist in society unless they go out and get a job and work like everyone else. In the end of the film the young women obliterated a buffet that was

most likely for communist officials due to the expensive imported liquor and foods. They eventually realize that they do not want to be bad anymore, so they clean up the food and broken dishes from the buffet. The women say they are now going to be happy because they are hard working, clean, and good; this is now how society sees women at that time.
