Additionally, you will gain buy-in from everyone involved since they were permitted to be part of the process from the beginning of the project.-Sophorn V.Hi Gregory,I agree that the best way to fully comprehend tasks is to perform or conduct the work yourself. Consulting with the managers is also a great way to gain insights as well, however I find that managers usually provide information from a high level prospective. To really get the details, it is best to be in the front line. For my project, Inot only took the time to perform the tasks myself, I also spent more time conducting studies on time and overall motion of the tasks. From my observations, I was able to identify several layers of wastefulness that does not add value to the overall project and peel away those wastes. By eliminating wastes, I was able to develop a more efficient budget as well as create a more efficient standard work process for the team.-Sophorn V.Hi Olanrewaju,A project schedule is certainly an important aspect to project planning. It enables you to set projected milestone goals and most importantly keep the project on task. Additionally, acquiring approvals a head of time is definitely a requirement to avoid any potential conflicts. I agree non-productive time should be factored into contingency reserves and should also include non-workdays, holidays and vacation days. I’ve had projects that were scheduled around the holidays before and had to factor in non- workdays into the schedule. When these non-workdays are included in the overall schedule, it creates a more realistic completion schedule.
