PLOTChristopher Boone is a fifteen-year-old boy, who experiences the world around him differently than most people. He likes prime numbers (which is why the chapters of the book are only prime numbers), he doesn't like to be touched, and he doesn't understand facial expressions or jokes. Christopher is very good at math and science, because they are logical and the rest of the world is illogical to him.
CHARACTERSCHRISTOPHERCHRISTOPHER’S FATHER (ED BOONE)He is the narrator and the main character of the novel. He is 15 years old and has asperger. This condition has made him extraordinarily gifted in math and science but severely underequipped socially. He greatly dislikes social interaction and avoids it when possible. He resides with his father and pet rat Toby.Single father. He owns a heating maintenance and boiler repair business. He prepares Christopher’s meals very carefully and cares deeply about him. Later on, Christopher uncovers elements of his life that he has long tried to keep hidden and because of this, the relationship with his son deteriorates.
MRS. SHEARSMR. SHEARSCHRISTOPHER’S MOTHER (JUDY)A neighbor of the Boone’s. She is the ex-wife of Roger Shears. Christopher remembers that she would often visit to cook meals and play scrabble in the wake of his mother’s death. The murder of her dog, Wellington, provides the major dramatic impetus for the novel.EX-husband of Eileen Shears. He once worked at a bank in town, but moved to London suddenly a couple of years ago, leaving Mrs. Shears behind. His mysterious nature leads Christopher to investigate him as a possible suspect in Wellington’s murder.
