immunizing their child. Due to misinformation regarding the dangers of vaccinations and cultural beliefs, some parents are against vaccinating their children (Sullivan, 2012). Ethically the nurse practitioner is duty-bound to inform the parents of the 5-year-old boy of their rights to decline vaccination but also educate them on the benefits of immunizations and dangers of not vaccinating their child. The practitioner needs clarification from the parents of theboy as to why they decline to vaccinate their child. After educating the parents on the benefits of immunization and the dangers of not; the parents can then make their decision from an informed standpoint. Brochures with websites such as The National Vaccine Information Center should be given to the parents so that they can also educate themselves moreon the benefits of vaccinating children. The website also provides vital information regarding immunizations and laws for different states so that the parents are informed.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
