Investigating Discrimination Claims Two laws were violated in this particular situation of gender discrimination. Title VII and the Equal Pay Act was created to prevent this and other types of abuse in the workplace. A male employee had his sexual orientation and preference questioned by an authority figure. To properly investigate a gender discrimination claim, the first step is to have the victim complete a voluntary statement which explains the sequence of events and establish any credible witness that was there at the time the offense took place. Upon completion of the written statement by the victim, an investigator must be assigned to the case. It's crucial when interviewing the victim; the investigator only documents the facts and date time the event occurred. The alleged individual has a right to give his side of the story as well, any witness, who may have seen the event should be interviewed in a timely matter while the incident is still fresh in their memory.
