there isn’t enough time for those with jobs to receive dinner. How can we fix it you may ask? Have Doug (head of Dining) to either keep the Warrior Court or the Dinning Commons open a
little later so that people can get the food that they have paid for. I talked to Doug and this is what he had to say, “I understand where you are coming from, and it makes sense. This can be changed, but I would have to pay those staff who stay with those later hours. Financially, that could be difficult, and with them staying late, they could expect to be paid more.” This can be changed, and everyone would get to eat. But the downfall would be those who work in the Dining Commons or the Warrior Pit to work later, who are also students and have homework, practice, etc. At Illinois Wesleyan University, they have 2 other options other than their cafe to eat, in which one location is open until 10:00 (iwu.edu, Dinner Services Web Page). While the extra hour they are open, which is longer than our Warrior Pit, that would be perfect here for the students. An extra hour to have an option open so students can have a much healthier eating experience than having to dive somewhere close by and spend more money on food that isn’t included in tuition. This should be brought to the attention of faculty and staff, and Pres. Voss, to show that students do have some struggles in maintaining a healthy eating lifestyle when jobs and responsibilities get in the way of getting to eating venues.
