people drank more when they watched a movie that showed people drinking and when they saw commercials for alcohol. How good is the evidence? The evidence is not very supportive of the conclusion. The researcher makes a good case for this conclusion but it does not show evidence of a causal link. The participants were only observed for an hour. This does show a correlation. It only shows that while watching these particular movies and commercials people had more of a tendency to drink alcohol. This does not show that it changes the general lifestyle of the participants and causes them to drink more all the time. What other information is relevant? It states in this study that this experiment has never been tried before. Experiments need to be conducted several times and the experiment needs critiqued by peers in order to be seen as factual. Are relevant fallacies avoided? The testing fallacy may be present. The subjects were asked if they knew what was being studied. This may have caused them to keep thinking about what the 3
