Juliao 2 Now, the film has various specific aspects that make the theme of graffiti and hip-hop stronger throughout its cinematographic point of view. There are moments in the documentary when the narrator and the people being interviewed stop talking and the shots begin to change in relation to the music’s rhythm. I found this very engaging since the music is characterized by being upbeat and during these moments most of the shots were primarily about the graffitis in the subway cars. I believe that Silver made a great job along with Chalfant on their process of scene selection for the documentary. The aesthetic of the film as well as its transitions were very appealing and entertaining to watch. It is interesting how the documentary not only features clips about the people being interviewed, but it often includes pictures of the subjects, showing their day to day lifestyle. Furthermore, the variety of people being interviewed gives two sides of a story regarding graffiti; showing the work of “legends of the bronx” like Blade, Crash, DAZE, Dez, Kel, Mare, SEEN, Skeme, and T-Kid.
