The calcu-lated indirect effect resulted in 51.1 per cent of the total effect of spirituality onperformance being mediated by continuance commitment (total β = 0.86, p < 0.05).Additionally, predictor variable exerted significant indirect effects on criteriavariable (indirect β = 0.40 p < 0.01), resulting in 51.2 per cent of the total effectof workplace spirituality on organizational performance being mediated byemployee engagement (total β = 0.78, p < 0.05). Identically, work motivationalso reported partial mediation in relationship of workplace spirituality (indirectβ = 0.49, p < 0.05 and total β = 0.89, p < 0.001). Indirect effect explained 55 per centof the total effect of workplace spirituality on organizational performance beingmediated by work motivation.Discussion and ConclusionA number of successful organizations have started to reap benefits of associatingspirituality with workplace. Multinational organizations such as the World Bank(Laabs, 1995), AT&T, Hewlett–Packard, DuPont, Ford Motor company (Burack,1999), Apple computers (Cavanagh, 1999) have institutionalized special pro-grammes to add spiritual flavour to the overburdened and boring life of itsemployees. AT&T sends its middle managers to three-day spiritual-cum-self-development programmes. Trainee reported better self-understanding andrenewed positive relationship with colleagues (Cavanagh, 1999). Hewlett–Packard implements workplace spirituality through a company philosophy thatemphasizes the values of trust and mutual respect, which in turn are believed tocontribute to cooperation and sharing a sense of purpose (Burack, 1999). World’slargest search engine Google has started Google’s school of personal growth.
