Course Webpage: All information regarding this course including links for the required software ( Mathematica and R ), will be posted on the Canvas course webpage at https: //canvas.uw.edu . A link to the course webpage should be on the student’s personal Canvas page if registered in the course. Grading: Homework 30% Exam 1 20% Exam 2 20% Exam 3 20% Participation 10% The course grade will be made up of the following components: Eight weekly homework assignments, each weighted equally towards the total home- work grade. Homework will be turned in using the file upload feature on Canvas. Late homework or non-submission is NOT acceptable and will be assigned a zero grade. The lowest homework score will be dropped only if all homework assignments are turned in on time and with honest effort shown. Homework policies and guidelines will also be 1

uploaded on Canvas. Please review the homework guidelines before the start of any assignment and before submission on Canvas. Attendance will be taken by the instructor at random lectures throughout the quarter. The participation grade is the percentage number of times a student has been present during those lectures. Any justifiable reason for a class absence must be communicated to the instructor before that class begins. Online students must view each lecture within a week after it is posted. The in- structor will check this at random times during the quarter. The participation grade is the percentage number of times a student has followed this rule during those random checks.
