slaves, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and therefore slavery is  unjust o but this is not the way to argue for why slavery is unjust o in principle, it could be okay if the advantages of the slaveholder  outweigh the disadvantages of the slaves  fairness is a matter that to which everyone can agree the principles between a slave and a slaveholder are not fair because it  benefits the slaveholder in a much greater sense slaveholders only get the benefits through a cruel social arrangement with the  slaves o therefore, their benefits are not benefits at all justice is always a matter of efficiency according to utilitarian’s o they don’t think slavery is always wrong o if the benefits outweigh the negatives Rawls, on the other hand, believes that justice is a matter of fairness  o the very nature of the relationship is unfair because it’s based on the  principles that are unjust o rawl’s point is that the happiness of slave owner’s does not matter  because it’s the result of an irreprehensible agreement o slavery is always unfair so it’s always unjust o the advantages of slaveholder don’t matter utilitarian’s believe that something can be just, but unfair which is  incomprehensible what might the utilitarian say in response? o Common sense isn’t always right; instead, common sense is more or  less a reliable guide to things that promote the most overall happiness,  but they don’t always do that o in cases where common sense is wrong, whatever promotes the  overall happiness is correct o therefore, it remains in principle that slavery can be just in a situation  where it promotes the most overall happiness

Question 6: Is Nozick right that, even if people do not  deserve  the talents they  have, they are nonetheless  entitled  to the fruits of their labor?  Why or why not? Nozick believes that you can be entitled to certain things without deserving  them I am entitled to my body even though I don’t deserve it o I have certain rights and bodily integrity o You deserve things that you work for o but in the case of the body you’ve done nothing to deserve it, but you  are entitled to your body you can extend that o I just don’t have a right to bodily integrity without deserving it, i can  reap the benefits of my work  o I don’t deserve my talents whereby I acquire certain goods,  nevertheless I seem entitled to them in the same way I am entitled to  my bodily integrity even though I don’t deserve o you don’t deserve your body or your talents, I am entitled to it and

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
