Over the years their input and influence in important health policy making procedures has increased. They are required to recognize the emerging issues in their work and coordinate with other decision makers to come up with the most appropriate and beneficial policies. By involving them in this crucial process, the safety of the patients is ensured, there will be an increase in the quality of service delivery, and it enables them to get the essential resources they need. However, nurses should be effectively supported in order to ensure that these changes are realized. Such support needs to come through political activism, having a curriculum that involves healthcare policy making in nursing schools and finally, staff nurses to be provided with the required chances and resources to impact the local, state and federal policies[Jen16].
