I find that partners at our firm treat associates very well and generally respect our contributions, opinions and work as colleagues and fellow professionals (as opposed to a strict superior/employee relationship).” • “Both the partners within my group and the partnership as a whole are extremely respectful and collegial towards associates. Within my group, all of the partners are willing to take the time to help you grow as an associate. The firm as a whole is very transparent and the head of the firm will walk us through the firm’s financials.” • “The partners are, in almost all instances, genuinely nice people who want to teach. The chair of the firm meets with the associates’ committee twice a year, which has led to much greater transparency around promotion and performance reviews, among other topics. State of the firm presentations allow for transparency around performance and finances.” Hours • “My group works very hard and I think it is best for people to spend time in the office although many people work from home when needed and have alternative schedules. I find that certain people get more work than others for a variety of reasons.” • “Face-time is technically not required under firm policies, but expected (explicitly and implicitly) by partners and senior associates.” • “Work hours are inconsistent and hard to predict. Face-time is encouraged in my department specifically. Work is evenly distributed via our department coordinator, who does a great job.” • “I am given the right amount of work—I probably have some capacity for more work, but my days are filled and I am not pulling out my hair. I leave the office freely around 6pm to work from home and don’t find that face-time in off hours is necessary or encouraged.” Compensation • “Market compensations with a clear bonus target and some flexibility. There are extra incentives for hitting high billable targets. The only better thing would be an automatic bonus.” • “They pay market salaries and bonuses. Plus, if you exceed 2200 or 2450 hours, your bonus is increased by 15% or 30%.” • “The firm was quick to match the 2016 increase in market salaries for associates, and is generally transparent regarding bonuses. Bonuses are tied to hours worked, but in the cases of associates who are unable to meet their hour requirements, qualitative factors have been considered as support for awarding a bonus.” • “I am paid above market and think the compensation is very good. I also appreciate the firm’s relatively new published bonus policy.” Quality of Work • “The firm encourages you to push yourself to learn and grow
