Two Factor Theory – Stanley Schachter Believed Emotions are physiologically similar and require conscious interpretation emotions have two components o Physical arousal o Cognitive label Incentives – consequences that trigger positive or negative feelings, often dictate future behavior Intrinsic Control – internal personal controls or motivations that control an individual’s behavior External Control – influences a person’s behavior by giving rewards and punishments Emotion – reaction involving subjective feelings, physiological response, cognitive interpretation and behavior expression
