In a distributed network data is transmitted from nodes to servers to additional nodes. This transmittal could leave data open to interception. Encrypting data in transit would be a required component of the distributed networkat USD253. A distributed network will greatly improve the overall functionality of the IT Infrastructure at USD253. Allowing more users to access resources from nodes across our districtincreases their effectiveness and can be done for a fraction of the cost a less flexible system would allow. By offering this increased efficiency we increase the return on investment of tax-payer dollars. This will be a great asset for the district.

An efficient network is a value added to an organization.Allowing the IT department, the ability to increase flexibility as well as continue to provide stable access to systems. For an efficient network to be able to communicate amongst various systems it must have a set of rules used to regulate the transfer of data. These rules are defined asprotocols.Protocols provide the pre-agreed upon rules that systems utilize to transmit data from onesystem to another (Britannica, T. E., 2018, August 31). Protocols define the speed, byte size, handshake, and data order that each system must follow. Without protocols, data would be delayed, corrupted, or overwritten, causing disaster to the organization. At USD253 a distributed network would be invaluable to streamlining our systems. Understanding how protocols work with our data and what limitations they present is key to designing and configuring quality systems. At USD253 there are several relevant protocols. TCP, DNS, SFTP, and SSH are among several that will be implemented.TCPTCP, or Transmission Control Protocol, is the backbone of modern-day networking. TCP is responsible for creating the connection from two nodes and keeping that connection alive as long as it is needed to transmit data. A second responsibility of the protocol is to break larger blocks of data into smaller packages that make it easier for reassembly on the receiving side. Theprotocol also provides mechanisms to ensure that data integrity is maintained and reconstruction occurs correctly. A large reason for the ubiquitous adoption of TCP is that it is system-independent. TCP works with any operating system or manufacturer, as long as they adhere to
Computer Networking10the TCP protocol. This provides a benefit to the organization by allowing for disparate devices toconnect and communicate with one another. While TCP is a valuable protocol, an additional one that is used extensively is DNS.
