loss are students are facing because of the impossible standards they are being held to. In researching this topic I got to better understand the different areas of the common core and the many different perspectives on it. Every source that I have used while researching my topic is more than just opinion based. There are several studies that I included in my research that shows the number of students who cheat on tests or get assignments from classmates because they are scared of failing. Students are scared that their whole lives will be ruined if that do not exceed in the standards that are presented to them. Other sources that I use have personal narratives and the struggles that students went through because of the expectations the school system has. There are supports from psychologist in these articles that explain how much damage is happening to our students and what we can do to help them. Every article has one thing in common, they all share the popular belief that the Common Core should not be written by people who have never taught in a classroom and never plan to.

DeMaria 4 Annotated Bibliography Bush, Jeb. “Florida’s Intuitive Letter Grades Produce Results” 2017. Web. 6 March 2017 Jeb Bush is the former governor of the state of florida and monitored everything including the education system to make sure it was performing to the best of its ability. Bush wrote about the change in the scores of the students when the state switched to a typically letter grade grading system. This article does not support my argument in me stating that letter grades are harmful to the school system, it in fact has supporting evidence that goes against what I am saying. This is the reason why I chose to use this source. This source will help me provide to my readers both sides of the argument in order to show that I am not being biased and only focusing on the negatives. The point of using this source is to show that there are some good things that could come out of letter grades, but there are more negative things. When the negative outweighs the positive, you know it's time for a change. Kohn, Alfie. “Carry the Tune” 21 Feb. 2016. Alfie Kohn is one of the most outspoken people against the education system. Kohn writes and speaks about education, parenting, and human behavior. He has written and published 14 books regarding the education system and what it is doing to our children. This source is a youtube video of an interview asking Alfie Kohn about some of his views regarding the school system and how we can work to make things better. During this 15 minute interview he gives numerous examples of how the common core has failed over the years and how it is not only holding our students to impossible standards (of being like everyone else) but it is also slowly destroying their creativity.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
