N4455 Nursing Leadership and Management Shadowing Plan In the space below, describe your plan for observing a nurse leader in your organization as the leader is engaged in leadership tasks. First, schedule an interview with the nurse leader ( at least two levels above your current position) and record that date and time. Include descriptions of activities, your expected roles or behaviors as an observer or participant, and schedules of the activities. Explain the types of things you will be looking for and how you will record your observations. (Space will expand as you type.) Please remember to send a thank-you note to the nurse leader you interview. I am a supervisor in the PACU and plan to shadow my director for this assignment. I have given her a brief overview of what I am doing and the class requirements, but plan to have an interview on Tuesday 11/20/17 @ 0800. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to observe three activities in the past two weeks and I would like to use those as the basis for my assignment. The activities I have been able to observe and participate in are: 1. 11/6/17 @ 10am, I sat in on a meeting with a PACU RN that was being placed on a final written warning for attendance. This employee had 6 absences in a rolling 12-month period and had been giving a coaching, a verbal warning, a written warning and was finally being given a final written warning. As the supervisor, I had provided him with the prior disciplinary action forms, but as this was a final written warning the director wanted and needed to be involved.
