unaffordable costs of mental healthcare and the lack of parity between mental and physical health (World Health Organization, 2003). Mental health advocacy promotes the rights of persons with mental illnesses, while working to reduce the abovementioned stigma and discrimination associated with mental disorders. Mental health advocacy can be considered as a major force behind the improvement of mental health services (World Health Organization, 2003). As a mental healthcare professional, I am involved in mental health advocacy, as my daily roles include the encouragement of adopting behaviors that support those with mental disorders and disabilities, while providing mental health care. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
