At that time, my days and nights were consumed with educating myself on RAD in desperate attempts to help this baby girl. Throughout those studies, I read articles suggesting borderline personality disorder is an adult form of RAD which I find interesting. I felt almost like an expert on reactive attachment and enormous empathy for individuals attempting to raise children with this disorder, however, I never explored borderlines and/or whether there is any validity to the claim of it being connected with RAD . After four years of intense PTSD therapy, trauma therapies and EMDR, I feel like I have recovered at least 90%. I am still uncertain around some children and have accepted that I may never be comfortable in the presence of small children, again. Although that experience has forever changed who I am, the way I see the world and was completely terrifying, I feel blessed with what God has used that situation to do which is transform me into a wounded healer. Romans 8:28 (KJV) has never been more true than the example I see in myself. I do not believe God caused this to happen but I fully believe He turned it into something good. Interest in borderline also takes me back to when I served as a guardian-ad-litem for our county. I remember a parent I was assigned to oversee being diagnosed with BPD. We (the
