Earth (I personally thing God created the moon and sun) After its formation by accredition of collision fragments, the moon’s had a surface layer of magma that cooled into it present crust. Large flows of basaltic lava filled the gouged out basins to form the present maria.

3. What are the age and physical characteristics of the basaltic lava and glass on the Moon's surface? (page 278, para 1 to page 278 para 4) The age range of the moon is between 4.3 to 3.1 billion years. The age of the youngest lavas is not known, but the low crater densities suggest a lower age limit of 1 billion years. The dark gray maria basalts cover about 20% of the moon’s surface, but form less than 1% of the moon’s volume. The maria has a smooth surface, and the basaltic lava is fine grained from rapid cooling. 4. What is the largest shield volcano found in our solar system and how big is it? page (278, para 5) The largest shield volcano is Olympus Mons at 600 kms in diameter and 25 kms high 5. What is the most volcanically active body in our solar system and how does its heat flow compare to that of the Earth's? (page 283, para 2 to page 285) The most volcanically active body in our solar system is Io, the intermost moon of Saturn- Scientists at U of C and NASA predicted that Io might have a molten interior caused by tidal friction. Io’s heat flow is 10 (to the 14 th power) watts, compared with Earth’s 4.4 x 10 (to the 13 th power) watts, 200 times the amount of heat flow expected from the radioactive elements in Io’s interior.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
