paper. I think the organizational pattern used was very appropriate. I honestly don’t think they could’ve done a better job with that. The authors use transitional words and expressions to guide the readers through the essay but almost restating what was in the previous paragraph and tying it into the first sentence or two of the following paragraph. For example: the authors just got done talking about the principle of selection then as they tranistion into the next paragraph about the principle of slanting, here is the first sentence, “When we put our knowledge into words, a second process of selection, the process of slanting, takes place.” They continue a bit more into the second sentence. A big thing that stood out to me was in the Corlyn paragraphs. In the first one it reads “Corlyn had that rare talent for making every male feel that he was the only man in the world.” Previously in the paragraph it talks about how beautiful she is. So to me this is saying that just 3

Heath because she is pretty and what most guys might “dream” of that she makes this makes them feel like this. Whereas in the second paragraph it says, “Corlyn had a habit of making every male feel that he was the last man on earth.” And previvously in this paragraph is is described as being not very pretty and flawed. So to me that sentence suggest that since she isn’t very pretty that she doesn’t make the men feel very good. I also noticed a few times when the Authors were writing about how a person might feel to this and so on that instead of using like the words they or them to discribe either male or female they used he. 4
