to be respected and receive results from their subordinates. Jobs lead by example from showing the passion he had about his company and his products. His drive was always about improving and making his products and services better for the consumer versus being concerned with profit margins. This tactic is what inspired his employees to strive to do their best and knowing that their ideas were valued ("Leadership of Steve Jobs | Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick," 2011).

Branson and Jobs had very different approaches to their style of management. Branson was more focused on retaining his employees through employee engagement and introducing fun activities in and outside of the work place. He also encouraged his employees to give back through volunteering activities and charities. Jobs on the other hand was not considered to be fun at all, he was quite the opposite. He was mean and authoritative yet he still had positive output and admiration from his staff. His passion was so intense for improving technology that his employees revered him and strived to contribute as much if not more innovative ideas. Jobs was known to support his employee’s ideas if there was potential behind them. Employees respected the innovator for his knowledge and cutting edge ideas versus concerning themselves with his brash personality. Both leaders had drastically different leadership styles but both accomplished great success leading in styles that complimented their personalities and their true passion. References Daft, R. You have just received notification that a major tornado is heading in your direction within the hour. Using this situation, give one example of how your leadership during this crisis would be different from leading under normal circumstances. Under normal circumstances any direction that is provided to the employees could be relayed through electronic means to inform employees of what steps to follow. In this situation information would need to be disseminated quickly and accurately and employees would need to be accounted for. Instead of delegating certain tasks I would want to ensure that the tasks are completed so that I would not be held liable for something that might occur on site caused by lack of knowledge of the situation. I would also want to ensure the safety of all employees. A higher sense of urgency would be required for any tasks

that are delegated during the timeframe leading up to the storm. Directives would be given for what employees are required to do and there would be no time for deliberations after instructions are given.
