© 2017 Inc. 438 Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms, 2018 Edition GREENBERG TRAURIG, LLP THE SCOOP Greenberg Traurig, LLP counts among its clients some of the biggest names in information technology, energy, entertainment, telecommunications, real estate, financial services, and health care. With over two dozen offices worldwide, an exceptionally broad practice scope and household names for clients, it ranks as one of the nation’s largest firms. Southern Heat Greenberg Traurig traces its roots to 1967, when three Miami attorneys established a practice modeled on New York’s boutique transactional firms. Melvin Greenberg was the firm’s first chief executive officer; University of Miami grad Robert Traurig became a power player among southern Florida’s real estate firms, builders and developers; and early name partner Larry Hoffman went on to become managing partner in the 90s. Hoffman Steps It Up For many years, the firm confined its operations to the Miami area, and most of its clients were small and mid-sized companies. Changes began in 1987 when the firm altered its leadership structure. The name partners handed the reins to a group of 14 younger partners in an effort to develop a long-run succession plan. When Melvin Greenberg became seriously ill, Larry Hoffman took over as managing partner, scotching the idea of passing the top job on to the next generation. Hoffman had no intention of maintaining the status quo, however. He implemented an ambitious expansion plan that added a number of practices—including trade, immigration, and labor—to the firm’s list of offerings. He also pushed for geographic expansion, moving the firm’s presence into northern Florida, New York, and Washington, DC. By the time Hoffman stepped down in 1997, the firm had ballooned to 325 lawyers.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
