Medicare is a federally funded health insurance program. Majority of retired people use Medicare as their primary insurance coverage. Besides the office schedule America’s health care system, does not have a wait time to see a doctor and there is no wait time for elective surgeries. In the US, depending of the type of coverage you choose, a PPO plan or an HMO, determines if a referral is needed to see a specialty doctor. Great Britain’s healthcare system requires patients to have a referral to see a specialty doctor. The wait time to see a specialty doctor two to three months and this is the same for elective surgeries as well in Great Britain. US citizens have to get private insurance if their employers do not offer insurance coverage. Employees in the US are still responsible for some of the premium, deductibles, coinsurances and other out of pocket costs.
