leased line is usually a pointtopoint connection from the corporate office to a branch office. This means that they will have data availability, integrity and confidentiality, as they are transmitting sensitive data that impacts directly on their business. It has no direct contact with Headquarter and for that it has to be on track. i would like to set up LAN via the WAN and submit the essential information to HQ.I think it may help to save money as this business & relies on incoming data to manage shipment of inventory. Wide Area Networks Eroshan Jayaweera 11/23/2016 10:20:37 PM I suggest Mesh(partial) architecture as the WAN architecture for Cookies Are Us. Using mesh architecture, they can decide the stores which needs to be connected via WAN (ex: main outlets). Another main advantage is that if one path is broken to a certain store, connectivity can re establish using another path through the mesh network. However, response time or the performance will not be the same as before. Wide Area Networks (Cookies) Josue RodriguezMeave 11/23/2016 10:50:53 PM Given the fact that there are only 100 stores, and despite being spread in two countries, all the stores are clustered in one big area, i would recommend the use of a star architecture with a T1 service, the T1 is enough to handle the data flow since it provides 24 64Kbps channels, star architecture because the stores have to send and receive data to and from headquarters, there's no need for the stores to comunicate with each other. The headquarter makes the decisions. T Carrier services have the advantage of availability, if they break they're fixed in few hours, not days. Besides not being so friendly related to scalability(it isn't a big deal either), it isn't very expensive, and since it is a dedicated circuit, it means the Cookies store have full use of the service instead of sharing it. The cost of the T1 service is a little over $500.00 a month, and doesn't generate extra fees in function of the data flowing through it. RE:Wide Area Networks (Cookies) Gust Dimoulias 11/24/2016 10:07:13 PM I must agree with you Josue. A star topology would make sense in that all the store's data is sent to headquarters. At the end of the day the data is transmitted to HQ. A mesh or a ring topology would only clog the network. For example, if you are planning to connect your business with an outside network, having a dedicated technology like T1 can be a big plus.
