It was a very low richness channel but that increased channel richness. People need to upgrade the channel when the communication is not being received well. EX: when an email does not work, we will usually make a phone call, because we now see that this isn’t as regular as we thought it was. The secret is that when something is not being communicated correctly over a medium you need to upgrade the channel richness. The sooner the better. Channel richness: the amount of info that can be transmitted during a communication episode! It is also the speed of feedback. Feedback can be nonverbal communications and tone of voice When we are choosing channel richness, we need to balance efficiency and effectiveness We need to choose a channel based on if it has regular occurrence *an exam question is choosing a channel that Is most effective for a given situation based on efficiency and effectiveness
