concept of dharma so he does not see his motivation for fighting his kinsman. Krishna continues and reveals to Arjuna that it is his duty, dharma, to protect his people, even though it means killing his kinsmen. Krishna tells Arjuna that his duty is to overcome his attachment and ignorance and do what is right by his people. Krishna also lightens Arjuna s worries about killing his kinsmen by telling ʼ him that he is helping them complete samsara. Once they are dead they are able to continue to a new life. By engaging in war Arjuna is able to help his kinsman to accomplish samsara and also complete his own dharma.! The piece “Raga Dadra” shows how music can help one to complete his or her dharma. All ragas have the same characteristics. For example, ragas are divided into three parts: Alap, Jhor, and Jhali. In the Jhali the mood is set to help one complete his dharma. This may be simply reaching god through music. This characteristic of three is carried into the instruments. Typically there are three groups of instruments used in a raga: string, wind and percussion. Also, the artist performing “Raga Dadra” is completing yoga, because it takes a lot of discipline to learn to play Hindu music such as a raga. This is because the majority of the piece is improvised, especially in the alap. In general, ragas are based off rhythmic patterns that symbolize time. This symbolizes samsara in the manner that it is a cycle like how life is a cycle.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
