Since this article talks about long term solutions to prevent another economic crisis and another need for a bailout, I would use this information after I discussed the bailout plans and its effects in my research paper. Why official bailouts tend not to work: An example motivated by Greece 2010 This article discusses why bailouts don’t seem to work in countries like Greece. The author mentions the fact that bailouts in the form of loans aren’t that successful due to a country’s fundamental fiscal problems. There is high government indebtedness from the bailouts in the form of loans, which leads to high risk. The article also provides the numbers behind all the bailout plans for Greece. A 45 billion euro bailout package was announced by the Eurozone on April 12 th , and then the size of the bailout package was increased to 110 billion euros a couple weeks later on May 3 rd . A week after that, a 750 billion euro package was announced that would help Greece as well as other countries affected. The article provides very useful information on the bailout packages that were put in place to help Greece through their economic crisis. The numbers provided about all the bailout can be used in my research paper when I discuss the most recent proposed bailout as my main focus. As well, I can use the information about the failure of bailouts in my research paper and talk about how the bailouts aren’t the best solution to the economic crisis, at least in the long run.
