They also tell us that they experience a deep affirmation of their unique greatness and that they see themselves as being much more efficacious. In addition, they report feeling more integrated because they hear the same kinds of things from people in various parts of their lives over different time periods. When our students ask for the gift of this feedback, they are simulta- neously activating their own enabling networks, which in turn encourages continued growth in the direction of this best self Students tell us that they often end up giving back to the person the same type of information they initially sought. Together they are articulating what was residing beneath the surface of the relationship - a mutual appreciation of what both individuals were bringing to it. This process enlarges people's sense of the positive difference they can make in the lives of others in both intended and unintended ways.
