main idea in my responce, but I think you failed to really recognize the effect that the painters and writers had on the population by not going more into depth on that topic. Neverthless, I agree with your main statement about westward expansion being driven by natural resources. The article, Nature's Nation: An Environmental History of the United States corroborates your sentiment through stating that “American’s geography seem(ed) like a gigantic money tree” (Opie, 1998), which helps to explain that people thought to move westward because of the natural resources, but more importantly because of the money they could make through having ownership of these resources. While westward expansion may of been caused through greed, I believe it was still an important time in America’s history that helped develop numerous industry based upon the natural resources that people went westward to find in the first place. Sincerely, Madison Brim Reference: Opie, J. (1998). Nature’s Nation: An Environmental History of the United States New York: The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
