people who would “sham”. The Doom Loop concept was summarized as “the tendency of some organizations to run off in one direction then turn and chase another fad in a new direction” (Fischer et al., 2007, p. 44). I saw an example of this while working in the post office warehouse. At the beginning of our contract, we came into work and developed a system of sorting mail as quickly as possible, which proved to be very efficient. Then the next week, we had to try a new system. This system received many complaints and gripes, but to no avail we would change systems again the following week. This continued until it seemed every week, we had to use a new system. Collins (2001) Hedgehog concept of “finding a single organizing idea that unifies and guides everything” is a belief that my supervisors at the post office should have considered. Had we continued the first system things may have ran smooth for the entire contract. The leadership style caused the difference between the two organizations I experienced. In the military, many of the shift leaders were very relaxed. They didn’t check in to verify many appointments or produce many repercussions for showing up to work late. This made the DFAC manager step in, because he could not trust his leaders to lead with authority. “Good to great comes about by a cumulative process- step by step, action by action, decision by decision, turn by turn of the flywheel- that adds up to sustained and spectacular results” (Collins, 2001, p. 165).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
