Surname 2 members of the upper class like Don Pedro and Claudio are expected to use fanciful language because they are seen as superior, and there is a need for them to behave and conduct themselves differently than those in the lower class. One of the key differences amongst those in the upper class and those in the lower level is the element of speech. Dogberry, Verges, and the Watch all speak in prose, and Dogberry even goes to the extent of using a slew of malapropism, which is an act of misusing words ridiculously, especially by the confusion of words that sound similar. For example, in (3.3.3), Dogberry says, "…if they should have any allegiance in them…" instead of 'allegiance,' he means treachery. The other instance is when he orders, "Adieu. Be vigitant. I implore you." In the real sense, he means vigilant but ends up saying 'vigitant.'
