Team DiversityPatient-family-centered care is supported by providing culturally competent care. In order to adequately address cultural diversity, the multidisciplinary team will need to be diverse as well. As mentioned earlier in this paper, the main race of the county is Caucasian; however, there is a significant presence of Hispanic and Asian cultures in the community. Every attempt will also be made to recruit patient and family ambassadors that sufficiently represent these minorities of the community to structure an equally diverse interview committee. By satisfactorily embodying cultural diversity on the multidisciplinary team, then patient preferences as well as their attitudes and beliefs can be considered during the hiring process which will ultimately support culturally competent care. Leadership TheoriesFor development of the team, transformational leadership will be utilized. Transformational leadership within nursing is a platform that inspires others, encourages initiative and innovation, and contributes to improving care. It supports practices and behaviors that improve organizational and nursing outcomes, such as productivity, job satisfaction, and especially turnover rates, which directly affects my identified weakness. Transformational leaders support positive change and empower others through shared decision-making and by creating fellowship among staff (Roussel, Harris, & Thomas, 2016). The team is more likely to be successful if the transformational leader helps to create and sustain trust within the team members since a shared, clear vision will then be created. These leaders foster staff confidence to create inventive outcomes and maintain a competitive edge in an always evolving healthcare environment.
