4. DISCUSSION 1. When the elastic limit is not exceeded, the deformation is recoverable so comparing both cases of increasing and decreasing the hanging weights, the strain should be the same for the same stress. That is the Young’s Modulus should be the same for both cases. Do you observe this? a. The graph demonstrates that the Young’s Modulus is the inverse of the other graph. Second graph depicts the negative values because of the order and declining values in each case. 2. In your plot, how well do the data points fall in a straight line? What would be the factors that cause the deviation from the straight line? a. The plots don’t fall directly on the straight line, this deviation may be caused by human error or a systematic error and bad calibration of the instruments used in the lab. All of the numbers vary but they do fall within the same number value for the most part.

What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
